El Campo Santo de Cemento Grande Cemetery (Non-Active) 4331 Communications Dr.
Dallas, TX 75211

Located in West Dallas, El Campo Santo de Cemento Grande sits within a neighborhood that was once called Cement City. On this land, the Southwestern States Portland Cement Company was established and operated from 1909 until 1957, housing its workers and their families in two segregated villages near the cement plant. The highly toxic pollution from the cement plant unjustly harmed these communities of people and the Blackland Prairie land. By restoring the vibrance and vitality of this cemetery, we hope to honor the memories of the Mexican and African-American laborers who built Dallas.
