Mid Year Report 2025

Now that we have received City of Dallas approval, they have stopped maintenance (mowing) in our selected

area for native species restoration. We conducted our Spring flora and fauna survey and began removal of

identified invasive speciesin our selected area. Most of the flora removed was privet. Beeman Cemetery was

selected this spring to host a Wild DFW panel titled The Land Never Forgets: The Beeman Family, Historic

Cemeteries, & Tallgrass Prairies. Master Naturalist Amy Martin, author of Wild DFW, led the panel discussion

featuring M.C. Toyer, who explored Dallas history and the Beeman family's role in it, and John Hampton, a

Beeman descendant, who shared family anecdotes and highlighted the Beeman Cemetery’s contribution to the

Constellation of Living Memorials. It was was well attended with good attendee participation and the event

expanded awareness of this cemetery site. Volunteer effort this winter/spring included:

1. Re-staked fenced work area to halt City maintenance. (1hrs)

2. Completed 1 flora and fauna surveys utilizing a grid system and entering findings into iNaturalist

database for nearly 100 confirmed species identifications. (4hrs)

3. Uploaded species identifications to Texas A&M Qualtrics database. (2hrs)

Upcoming scheduled activities include Summer and Fall flora and fauna surveys and continued invasive removal.
