This is the vision I have for the W.W. Glover Cemetery one year from now.

This image is the vision for transforming the ground restoration into a wildlife habitat at the W.W. Glover Cemetery one year from now, Sept. 2025.

June 5, 2024

GW took 5 containers of Inland Sea Oats to the cemetery. There had been much rain and wind and she saw the top half of a cedar tree near the east fence had broken off. The fence was damaged and more clean-up required in the cemetery and the lot next to it. She picked up a long awaited lawn mower filter from a hardware in the city where she lives.

June 7, 2024

BAS, JAS and Jaxson S. cut up and stacked the cedar tree inside and outside the cemetery.

June 8, 2024

For second Saturday GW, BAS and KAR worked. Planted Inland Sea Oats. Routine maintenance removing plants near tombstones by hand and mowing around tombstones since growth of vegetation has not slowed. Two trunks of a multi-trunk tree had fallen barely missing delicate old tombstones. Picked up fallen limbs. First day to work in heat and humidity with one volunteer getting too hot.

June 19, 2024

GW, BAS, TD and KAR cleaned out unwanted plants in mulched beds and around tombstones and watered where needed. Picked up fallen limbs.

June 29, 2024

GW and KAR watered all purchased and other transplanted plants.

July 5, 2024

GW, BAS, KAR removed unwanted plants from around natives., mowed around tombstones. Picked up fallen limbs and marked short tombstones so they can be seen. Watered.

July 9, 2024

Got a bid of $1,600 for cutting down multi-trunk tree.

July 12, 2024

GW and KAR met M and W at the cemetery to talk and look at the cemetery.

July 13, 2024

Second Saturday work day we (GW, BAS, KAR) cleaned out the mulched beds and around tombstones and watered. Watering always involves filling and hauling jugs of water from home. We worked in the sun only short periods of time and reminded each other to get drinks and rest. We sat in lawn chairs in the shade for a break.

August 1, 2024

GW, BAS, KAR removed unwanted plants from around natives. Cut saplings along north fence and watered.

August 10, 2024

Second Saturday work day we (GW, BAS, KAR) cleaned out the mulched beds and around tombstones, watered and cut saplings. Worked in the sun only short periods of time. BF meticulously cleaned inside the Lagow area. TD and JD mulched around tombstones with cardboard anchored to the ground with bent clothes hangers. BAS cut logs to make borders to hold the mulch. When this is done around all tombstones, maintenance will be easier. We plan to later have mulched paths to the tombstones. For now we are mowing the paths. We thought not too gritty looking to go the the restaurant for a meal together and so had a good time talking afterwards.

August 17, 2024

Meeting at home of JAF. JR and wife attended and discussed mulching with MN who gave them a name of a tree company with a chipper. JR arranged for a similar company in the cemetery neighborhood to come to the Glover.

August 23, 2024

BAS and GW did excellent repairs of three places on the chainlink fence where falling trees or limbs had bent the toprail. Watered planted perennials.

August 24, 2024

At the cemetery JR, Alex (employee of Dallas Tree Trimming and Removal Service, 241-854-6758), BAS, GW, KAR, TD and JD converged. We chipped from 8:00 until 10:30. On the hot and dusty morning we were absolutely too gritty to go into a public place, but parted ways happy for the brush pile to be chipped. We do not fail to water planted perennials.

August 27, 2024

GW, BAS, and KAR met for a planning meeting and lunch at the home of TD.
